 The Learning Revolution is the Government's vision for informal learning in the 21st century.  The Government believes - quite rightly - that adult learning brings great benefits to the individual and to communities. It contributes to health and well being by building confidence, resilience and good social relationships.  For some people informal learning can be an important stepping stone towards further learning, qualifications and employment.

 At Speakers Trust we believe the confidence to speak in formal or public settings (whether this is to make a speech, give a presentation, put a question in a public meeting, participate in formal meetings with those in power, participate in a debate or, even, take to the stage) is a key skill, one that builds self confidence and self-esteem, develops the capacity to drive social change and enhances employability.  For this reason Speakers Trust is keen to play our role in a proposed National Campaign for Public Speaking, something that we are discussing with others in this field and which we shall be supporting the launch in October as part of our efforts to produce a real legacy from this month's activities.
